Protecting and enhancing the Quality of Life for Rio Rancho Residents
Improving police and fire protection (Full funded police and fire departments, including city council
directed funding to ensure all fire stations are completely staffed. Working with the Mayor to provide new sources of funds
to keep up with expanding requirements)
Improving and expanding family activity facilities (Completed the Rotary Club Barbeque shelter at Haynes
Park, Cabazon Pool and Park, Roadrunner Park and funded Ester Bone Library improvements.)
Encouraging businesses that locate in Rio Rancho to respect and improve the quality of life for the community and to pay
a living wage to their employees (Worked on bringing HP Center in the down town area, UNM
and CNM campus development efforts, Encanto Computing Facility and Presbyterian and UNM Regional Hospitals.)
Bring charm and individuality to the city of Rio Rancho (Repaired and replaced the Corralles Heights
neighborhood entry signs with help from AllStar Realty, worked with the Panorama Heights East neighborhood homeowner
association select and erect new entry signs employing local artisans to design and construct the signs, funded
with my fellow councilors multiple landscaping projects)
Plan for future and rehabilitate current infrastructure (Sidewalks, Parks, pools, safe streets, and public transportation)
(Voted for the inclusion of Rio Rancho in the proposed Metropolitan Transit System,worked for sidewalks
at Haynes on Grand Ave, and SAD 7A)
Creating a cooperative local government environment to ensure that Rio Rancho Residents get the best value for their tax
dollars
Work with educational, county, state, federal and multi-governmental organizations to bring the best services and facilities
to Rio Rancho (Appointed to the board of Middle Rio Grande Council of Governments, worked with Senator
Carrarro and Commissioner Don Leonard to fund improvements at the facilities in Cabazon)
Foster joint sponsorship to improve infrastructure projects (Worked to secure stimulus funding to complete
Paseo De Volcan by using my positions on the Metropolitian Transportation Board, Mid-Region Council of Governments Board
to complete the funding use city and Department of Transportation funds)
Draw upon rich New Mexico traditions to foster a cultural bridge from Rio Rancho’s past to enhance the “Vision
for the Future”
Encourage working relationships with Albuquerque, Bernalillo and Corrales. (Appointed to the board
of Middle Rio Grande Council of Governments)
Giving residents better access to city hall by seeking their input before major decisions are made
Create transparency in all actions taken by the city (I have held ten public meeting with
District residents to discuss issues relating to the city, we authored three columns in the Rio Rancho Observer
and had a televised public hearing on the Cable Contract)
Use technology to better inform city residents on issues that will impact them (I have
updated this WEB site and supported the establishment of the Live and Archived Media service with the
city of Rio Rancho)
